All of us face challenges, but how many of us are able to turn those challenges into strengths by overcoming the obstacles. Ajunideep’s road to high school was an exceptionally difficult one. She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the tender age of 7. She struggled due to either excessively high or low blood sugar throughout her school days, Nevertheless, Ajunideep was determined to get the most out of her education, and with encouragement from her parents and teachers, she realized that her condition did not mean she was different from her classmates, she was just more special!

She says “We as Type 1 diabetics are often judged and misunderstood by others. But I have never let it control my life or who I am. Their opinions aren’t my problem and no matter what people say or do, we should never doubt our worth and the beauty of our truth.”

In July 2018, Ajunideep was diagnosed with a severe kidney infection. She struggled hard to keep her blood sugars in range and was devastated. Slowly her condition deteriorated and she became very sick and was bedridden for months. She had no option left but to miss her school and tuitions for a long period of time to take care of her health.

She could see her life falling apart, all her aspirations, dreams and wishes got lost in the swirl of emotions.

Life is hard. Isn’t it? When illness strikes, it can be hard to get your life back on track. With the Board exams around the corner, it became hard for her to concentrate on her studies. She wasn’t fully there mentally, no matter how much she tried. Soon the anxiety and panic set in which made her restless for days anticipating about how would she cover the entire course in just a month’s time, that too with a set target in mind. It was a ‘do or die’ situation! With each passing day, the feelings of disappointment, frustration, indecision, self-pity, and doubt took over her mind.

“Should I or should I not?” There was a battle going on between her heart and her mind.

“But you HAVE to do it, there is no option to quit!” She said to herself.

Her heart wins! Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear your path towards a greater awakening.

She decided to take the leap with her “never say die” attitude and give her best shot with the big dreams in her mind. By focusing not on the hardships she endured, but rather on the lessons and skills she learned from them, she managed to score an impressive 95.9 per cent marks in class 12th Board exams. Ajunideep’s score was higher than her expectations and her proud mother had tears in her eyes when she got to know about the results.

Bravo!! It wasn’t easy though but her positive attitude and tremendous support of her parents and teachers helped to overcome her obstacles and deal with this big challenge in her life, fearlessly.

She saysThe biggest obstacle you will ever face is your mind, if you can overcome that you can overcome anything, because life rewards those who are willing to push themselves beyond their limits

Whenever your morale starts flagging, when you start to feel like the world is against you, the obstacles in your path are insurmountable, or the goals you have set for yourself seems distant, just take a moment to reflect on those who have faced even more impossible odds just to achieve something that most of us take for granted: education!

We are truly proud of Ajunideep! She had all the odds against her, it was easy to settle and make excuses, but she chose to believe in herself that she is going to make it. She knew being a quitter would be the biggest fail of her life. Thus, she refused to accept defeat when the lining of her heart was determined to succeed.
Kudos to this super girl!!
